Vintage Tribal Bakelite Prayer Box Necklace – Large Brass Beads & Hinged Locket Pendant, Ethnic Statement Jewelry - Rare and Super Unusual

Bold and dramatic vintage tribal-style necklace featuring a rare Bakelite prayer box pendant with ornate hinged brass detailing. The pendant opens to reveal a deep velvet-lined compartment traditionally used to hold prayers or charms. Strung with oversized faceted brass beads, this piece evokes ethnic revival design from the 1930s–1950s.

The pendant appears to be authentic marbled Bakelite, based on color depth, sheen, and era. There is an old visible repair on one side, where a chip was patched with red filler or adhesive. The repair is stable and does not affect wearability, but is visible upon close inspection (see photos). The closure is a traditional handmade hook and eye.
