Antique Victorian Solid Sterling Silver Pencil Holder SM & CO S Mordan and Company w Loop Holder

This is a very old pencil holder by Sampson Mordan and Company The pencil holder is solid sterling silver And it has a heavy patina. There is an old pencil broken off at the tip, please see photo. I’m sure it could be easily retrieved with tweezers and a new pencil put in. This is fully hallmarked.And it’s difficult for me to read but there is a lion indicating sterling silver, a shield and a letter that appears to possibly be d or Q It appears to either be from the late 1800s or early 1900s.Please see photos for approximate measurements and further details. This could be polished up very nicely but I will leave that up to the new owner.
